Overnight Houseman

Our ideal candidate for this position must be reliable, able to work independently and efficiently. Completing tasks on the overnight shift like maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the whole hotel, reporting all damage, mechanical deficiencies, addressing guest-related matters i.e. delivering items to guestrooms, assisting with maintenance calls or minor security issues – noise complaints. This candidate must also be able to always maintain professional, always displaying and delivering exceptional customer service and guest relations. This shift schedule is an Overnight shift – 11p – 7A, or 12A – 8A

Roles and Responsibilities: This job description is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job functions that an employee in this position may be asked to perform from time to time.

  • Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom and carpet shampoo machine.
  • Cleans public spaces, i.e. hallways and restrooms in the prescribed manner while following department standard operating procedures.
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
  • Dust and polishes metalwork and furniture.
  • Collect/removes any soiled linen for laundering.
  • Walk all floors at beginning and end of shift collecting trash, soiled linen from guestroom hallways and service elevator landings.
  • Pick up clean linen and refill the par stock of linen on each floor pantry.
  • Deliver towels, cribs, cots and other items to the guest rooms on request.
  • Assisting guests with maintenance issues.
  • Remove soiled linen and trash from the pool side and other service area and take it to appropriate locations in the prescribed manner.
  • Report missing/found articles, damage, or merchandise problems to the housekeeping supervisors.

Requirements: Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

  • Prior housekeeping experience desirable
  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work overnight 11P – 7A or 12A – 8A
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Ability to meet standards of appearance
  • Can communicate well with guests

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequency Key: Never = 0 hrs.; Rare = up to 1 hr.; Occasional = 1-3 hrs.; Frequent = 3-6 hrs.; Constant = 6-8 hrs.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Experience: Previous experience in the service industry a plus.
